My lovely friend, +JMJ+ over at Totus Tuus Family & Catholic Homeschool drew our family’s patron Saints for the year. She also drew one for this blog. Somehow I forgot to check for the Saints until earlier this month (they were waiting for me on her blog for over a month!) But, now we are on track for this year’s journey with our patrons and look forward to their guidance as we seek to become holy.
Curious as to who they are?
For me – St. Bernadette of Lourdes April 16 and to offer sacrifices to Mary for her intentions
For this blog – St. Leo, Doctor of the Church, Nov 10 – a heavy hitter on Doctrine (Our parish in Hilton, NY was St. Leo. So, I already feel a small connection to him.)
For S – St. Camille of Lellis praying for those in the health care profession (He was the Patron of this blog last year!)
For P – St. Frances Xavier Cabrini dec 22 pray for an increase in religious, especially sisters
For R – St. Ambrose Doctor of the Church Dec 7
For D – St. Athanasius, Doctor of the Church May 2 Defender of the Faith
For J – St. Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist, Nov 5, pray that mothers welcome new life
As an FYI for my non Catholic readers, the dates associated with each Saint are their feast day. This is when the Church remembers them and for many it is also the recorded date of their death, or birth into heaven. I am glad to have so many holy men and women who have walked before me to serve as example.
