Our current rental house is ideally located for Stephen and the boys to enjoy time on the water, in the water, or just hiking about. So, it is no great surprise that we are spending a lot of time outdoors this summer. While the heat might get to me a little more quickly than I’d like, sitting at the community beach under an umbrella with a gentle breeze coming in from the water is a great way to spend an afternoon. I usually wear my swimsuit in case I feel compelled to jump in the river with the boys, but so far have just enjoyed watching them play while reading a book and sipping ice water or lemonade.
When my sister and her kids came to visit this past month, I scheduled in one afternoon to just stay here and enjoy the community amenities. Overall, I think they did enjoy themselves and even had fun going hiking a bit with Stephen (to the lighthouse and also along the ‘clay cliffs’.)
With summer coming closer to an end, I am trying to find time to get more visits to the beach (and a few to the Y pool.) While we might be starting school before the month is up, I do plan to have PE down by the water and we can start our bird studies off with some nice walks along the shore. Even though we’ve been looking to purchase our own house (most likely outside of this neighborhood), I am content to just stay put and continue enjoying the resort like feel of the community. And, tonight we’ll be enjoying the community ice cream social and bingo time down by the beach.
