We love to read in our house and J has definitely caught the reading ‘bug.’ He’s still a few years away from reading on his own, but having a book read TO him is a daily delight.
Animals are always of interest in our house. Mr. O and the boys watch animal shows on a weekly basis and enjoy learning more about all the God has created.
Amazing Animals by Design by Deborah Haagen takes those creations that captivate youngsters and present them as wonderful creations of God in storybook format.
Why is a giraffe’s neck so tall? Why do zebras have stripes? Did all of these things happen by accident? When John and Sarah visit the zoo, they ask these questions and many more. Their parents and the zookeepers keep using the word design, but what does that mean? With its relevant message and exciting presentation, this is the perfect book to help introduce children to intelligent design.
The elementary age range (preK-3rd grade) is this books targeted audience with the ideas of creation and intelligent design presented in a manner they can more readily understand. You can currently purchase Amazing Animals by Design as an ebook (pdf file) for $7.99 or a paperback for $8.99.
I printed out the pages for reading through with J at first. However, since we recently had a Nook Color enter our homeschool environment, I think we might try reading it that way as well in the future. It has been a while since we went to a zoo or similar environment with him and I plan to pull this book out before a visit to see the animals. Of course, up here we are more likely to see a bear than an ostrich. Yet, I am sure he’ll be excited to be like John and Sarah in the story learning about the animals while viewing them.
