Only one other family came and we stayed for just about 45 minutes before heading over to Holy Spirit Parish in New Castle. The Caterina Benincasa Dominican Monastery was hosting an open house for people to see their renovated building. The sisters adored D and gave him a baggie of cookies to go. He was interested in the pictures and statues throughout their common rooms and the chapel. One of the sister’s is a gifted artist would did the paintings throughout the monastery. I left with a nice brochure of Christmas cards designed by Sister Mary Grace and sold to help both Benincasa Monastery and Holy Spirit Parish. I suspect I know where I will be buying some cards this year! You can visit www.sistermarygrace.org OR www.sistermarygrace.artspan.com for more information on her work.
After the visit with the Sisters, the boys and I walked over to see the Queen of Peace statue in person. We’ve seen it while driving by, but it takes on a different perspective when standing next to it.
Also, there was a nice little grotto area with a replica of The Pieta. What a wonderful spot to sit and pray.
