Recently, I had the pleasure of spending a day with my sister and niece. We elected to have an early lunch at The English Tea Room in Covington, Louisiana.
Both inside and out there are memorabilia that evoke the feel of visiting England. The plantings are lush with trees providing lots of shade and shadows. There are unique cars sitting outside on display as well as a red telephone box.
From a converted home, the inside has multiple space options catering to a variety of group sizes. We arrived early enough to have a pick of tables, so my niece decided a spot in an enclosed porch would be lovely. I couldn’t agree more!
The English Tea Room offers breakfast and lunch options available on their menu along with an option to experience a high tea. As we were a little hungrier than the high tea would provide, we selected dishes from the regular menu with a small pot of tea per person. I had a delicious triple salad (curried chicken with apples, tuna salad with corn, and egg salad served a top a bed of greens with a savory scone on the side) while my sister and niece both had an egg bake with fruit and a lemon-lavender scone.
This is a tea lovers paradise with enough options available to cause someone like me to feel challenged to pick their first option.
Purchasing the tea pot allows you to have more than one tea brought out over the course of your visit. Also, you can buy a favorite variety from them by the pound.
Overall, The English Tea Room is a delightful establishment nestled in old town Covington which offers a refreshing respite for your day. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and I know my niece is already planning to have a high tea service there with a few of her friends soon. You can access their menu from The English Tea Room’s Facebook page.
