Technology changes so quickly these days. Soon, something that you considered state of art is ‘old school.’ One of the tech components that some people have is an awesome speaker with or without a receiver. But, yet you long to stream music from favorite apps in your home!
How to Stream Music on Your Favorite Speakers
Now, you could go out and just buy a new receiver that allows for streaming.
However, I know that the frugal woman in me screams NO at getting rid of something working just fine for what some might consider a small upgrade in features.
Google Chromecast Audio as a Solution
Using the new Google Chromecast Audio is a great solution for many people.
Aside from the small, circular device, you receive a short AV cable that goes to your AV input and a power supply cord.
Plug the device into the speaker’s auxiliary input and then connect to your Wi-Fi network.
There are instructions available for how you set it up based on what device you are using.
Select which device you will use to stream music. It can be a phone, tablet or computer. (Sorry, it won’t work with Apple devices.)
What makes Google Chromecast Audio different from other options?
Okay, I will admit that, at first, my family asked why on earth we wouldn’t just use a Bluetooth speaker. Well, aside from the difference in the speaker, there is a crucial difference in methods.
Specifically, the Google Chromecast Audio will allow you to have a higher sound quality by using wi fi instead of bluetooth.
Another nifty feature is that you can connect multiple devices so the same music can stream through different rooms. You just group Chromecast Audio devices together so you can listen to the same song on multiple speakers!
I am already seeing how that could work wonderfully if we hold an open house. We have 2 large ‘common’ rooms, one on each floor. However, our current set up would me having multiple sources for music. By grouping devices together, we can ensure guests hear the same awesome background music as they migrate through the house.
