This past week has been a bit harsh on my immune system. Last Wednesday, I had a sore throat start. By Thursday, it was full blown fire on my lungs. A trip to the doctor had him saying I had influenza. Yuck!
With a trip to Colorado planned, I knew I needed to nip that illness in the bud.
I dug through my essential oils and supplements to find what potent substances might help support my body as it killed off any bacteria or virus. (I’ll share more about that in a different post.)
When crud like the flu hits, I bring out the big guns. #LifeBeyondKids Love my #essentialoils and am drinking #FireCider to help kick this stuff to the curb. Who has time to be sick??? I would rather smell like an Italian grandmother than be stuck in bed all day. #YoungLiving #LoveMyOils #health #wellness #Thieves #ImmuneSupport
Well, the plane ride was uneventful, but the huge change in altitude (from just a bit above sea level to 6,000 ft!) has me suffering altitude sickness issues. Having gone through this when in Santa Fe, New Mexico last summer, I know to push plain water and shun alcohol and caffeine. I’m also resting for these first few days instead of pushing myself.
All this is to say that we can make lifestyle choices which help support health or we can make choices that injure.
I’m looking forward to inspiration in this week’s link up and hope you find it, too.

I must have food on my brain as the two posts I picked to feature are both recipes.
One recommendation for those of us with different auto-immune disorders is to reduce or eliminate gluten. With 4 growing boys in the house who love their bread and other products with gluten, it can be a challenge for me. The Gluten Free Vegan Shepherds Pie at The Professional Mom Project called to me as something we can try for a meatless dish.
I have a love of Kale, but don’t always want to eat it as dehydrated chips or steamed alongside eggs. That’s why the Sweet Potato Kale and Quinoa Fritters at Best of Long Island and Central Florida called to me. I’m thinking my boys to try these, too.
Don’t forget to grab your button if you are featured!
