This past year, we were fortunate to review Emu Oil from Koru Naturals. This product worked wonderfully for my boys suffering from eczema, especially during the cold, dry winter months. However, I’ll admit that when they heard what it was they were then hesitant to have me put it on them. They’d succumbed to the ‘ick’ factor.
Apparently, they are not the only ones who wished there was an alternative to emu oil that worked the same way but was not an animal based product.
Enter GREEMU from Devonian!
Looking at the chemical composition of emu oil, scientists have now found a blend of plant oils and butters with a lipid composition that matches that of Grade A Emu Oil.
Specifically, GREEMU contains macadamia oil, palm oil, shea butter, sunflower seed oil, and rice bran oil in proportions that match the lipid composition of emu oil.
If you were to apply the 2 side by side, you’d most likely not notice any big difference. I tried it out and will attest that they felt the same and looked quite similar, although the Emu Oil might be just a bit ‘thicker’.
Just like the Emu Oil I reviewed this past year, you only need a small amount of GREEMU for any application to your skin. It spreads easily and my super dry skin from months of winter weather quickly soaked it up. Unlike some moisturizing choices I’ve used in the past, I did not feel ‘slimy’, the was no real scent associated with the product, and my skin definitely felt better in short order.
Overall, I am in LOVE with this product. No ‘ick’ factor from my boys who definitely benefit from all the properties of emu oil. And, I like the idea of it being vegan. Seeing that they mention use on your hair, I am seriously tempted to give it a try as my hair has become problematic in the past few years.
