I truly believe that breakfast is a very important part of your day. You are literally ‘breaking the fast’ after rising from a night of slumber. At this point, your body needs fuel to work efficiently. For the boys, that work is not only growing their bodies but also their minds. If there is something this mother wants, it is children who have their ‘engines’ well fueled each morning.
Sunday brunch is often a wonderful spread with things like hash browns, pancakes or waffles for the carbs, eggs and a meat option for the protein, and then juice or fruit for the sweet pop of flavor.
While I love a big breakfast, week days need quick and easy breakfast solutions. Cereal or toast is often what the boys will grab, but I like to have multiple options available that help keep their bellies quiet during the morning hours of school.
Homemade sausage patties are a great option for a simple breakfast solution as I can prepare them on the weekend (including baking or pan frying them) and then store the extras in the freezer for warming up as needed. Since I didn’t want to dig out my meat grinder, I just visited our local meat shop for ground pork. But, you can use any ground meat for making homemade sausage patties.
There are a lot of options for how to season your sausage. My family prefers a more savory sausage even for breakfast with a hint of spice being quite welcomed. As it is breakfast time, I still added a bit of sweetness to get a nearly perfect balance of sweet to savory. (Recipe is at bottom of the post!!)
While re-stocking our cupboards after our long RV trip across the continent, I noticed something new on the shelf at Walmart. In the cereal aisle alongside other granola options, I spied the Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups.
I had seen nothing like this before now. You’ll find a blend of yogurt and multi-grain granola with real fruit and crunchy bits all in a convenient single serving cup that is shelf stable. Considering our long standing love of Quaker products, I took a leap of faith and picked up a few containers of the Strawberry Almond and Apple Cinnamon flavors to add to our options for simple breakfast solutions.
Preparing this is as easy as can be. Add cold milk, stir, and then eat.
Download the Blippar app from your Apple or Android store to scan your package and receive information tutorials on Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups.
With 25 grams of whole grains and 10 grams of protein, this product is both satisfying and delicious.
Crunchy. Cool. Yum.
The colder your milk, the more the flavors of the Quaker® Real Medleys® Yogurt Cups will pop in your mouth.
Even better than having a variety of foods in front of you on a busy week day morning is knowing that it only took a few minutes to get it all ready. Bonus for this busy mom? My boys can make this without my assistance as no cooking is required!
You know you’ve got it right when you get rewarded with a hug and a kiss.
Trying before buying is a a great way to check out a new product. From August 13 to August 16th, you can find demonstrations at select Walmart stores where you can sample one of the flavors (Apple Cinnamon, Raspberry Pecan and Strawberry Almond.)
Be sure to check out more delicious recipes with Quaker Real Medleys Yogurt Cups at QuakerLove.com. There are quite a few I am going to try and I’d love to hear your favorite!
