Get Your Game On with These Tailgating Essentials
I have been, or can be if you click on a link and make a purchase, compensated via a cash payment, gift, or something else of value for writing this post. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
One of the things I miss living in Alaska is the ability to enjoy a good tailgating party. High school football is about the only option for a fall sport up here and by the time things are in swing it is just plain COLD. And, I’m not talking about a little chill in the air which a jacket can cure. That’s the old Southern gal in me talking nonsense as our daytime high might only hit above the freezing mark.
However, for all you lucky lads and lasses in the lower 48, the season is still going on and you can get your game on with these tailgating essentials. Personally, I love that plaid blanket and might get one to snuggle under in our cool house while watching the game on TV. (And, some of these items would be perfect for RV season up here!)
- SportBrella – This portable umbrella sets up in seconds and protects your entire family from wind, rain, sand and the blazing sun. Order it online and pick it up at Walmart.
- Tailgating Cooler – An ice chest, charcoal grill and all the utensils in one portable package. Shoulder strap or handles, you decide how to carry it, after you order it from Walmart.
- LED Lantern – Don’t you love the retro look, but with the safety and brightness of LED lighting? Order it now from Best Buy.
- BackPack Cooler Chair – All in one – your chair, your cooler, and your hands are free! Pick this up at JCPenney.
- Football Blanket – Since childhood, sitting on the bleachers was always better with one of these wool blankets over your legs. Online at Best Buy.
- Grill Light – It always gets dark before you know it. Clip this almost anywhere and the flexible neck lets you point it where you need it. Buy it at JCPenney.
- Weather Resistant Outdoor Speaker – Get the sound to everyone with this large speaker that can be placed horizontally or vertically and keep going for 6 hours. You can find this at Best Buy.
- The Picnic Pack – Enough for snack time for the whole team and the coaches. 16 Burgers and 16 Franks, all gourmet. Order it from Omaha Steaks and keep it in the freezer until you need them.
- Football Claw – Now there’s the perfect place to keep that Game Ball – on the wall! Order it now so its on hand when you need it, at The Container Store.

My mother in law would love to have that tailgating cooler. She has season football tickets and is always going to the games for tailgating fun!
We don’t do it so much now, but I imagine when my daughter is older we’ll have lots of tailgating fun!
My husband would love all of these for tailgating events! We plan on doing quite a bit next summer!
Great ideas! I cant wait to get that tailgating cooler for my husband. This is such a “man gift” and he will go crazy over it.
This weekend was a big taligating event in our area. I could barely move in the local butcher shop, so many people were stocking up on sausage and chip steaks for their tailgating foods. The food is my favorite part of the game!
That tailgating cooler is awesome! My husband would totally flip over this. I think I’ve got one of his Christmas presents, there. Thanks!
