Summer is winding down and the kids are back to school in our community. We managed to squeeze in a much needed trip back east to visit family members this month. And, some of the fun we had was funded through savings acquired through my use of Balance Rewards.
I love stretching our budget through the use of coupons. But, I often will forget to clip them from the circulars. Or, worse yet, I have been known to forget to hand the cashier the coupons even though I have them in my purse!
Walgreens is one store in our town that I visit for a variety of items the family needs. I am completely in love with the Walgreens app which allows me to find out what is on sale and what coupons are available. Before you can start saving, you need to have a Balance Rewards card. I got mine at a local Walgreens a while back. I then downloaded the app and synced my Balance Rewards account to it so I could start enjoying the savings from their paperless coupons.
Once you get to the store, just scan your Balance Rewards Card at checkout and it automatically is applied. No more need to clip coupons or worry about leaving them at home! I love popping into Walgreens to pick up items on sale and leave the possibility of lost savings behind. And the BIG bonus is that I just need my phone to use the Balance Rewards card!! No more overstuffed wallet or missing card for me.
For that recent trip, I picked up neck pillows on sale (with a coupon ‘clipped’ for bonus points. I really needed my neck pillow for the red eye flights. But, I think my youngest son was more ‘awake’ when we landed in Rochester than I was.
Visiting with family was such a blessing. The boys loved having time with everyone, especially the cousins who have a pool. Swimming in a pool in western New York is a lot more enjoyable than swimming in a cold Alaskan lake!
They also loved going to Tim Horton’s for lunch one day. The boys love eating out when they can and having a grandfather paying for donuts to end the meal was a bonus.
And, I know that we all enjoyed a visit to Niagara Falls. Our eldest was 2 the last time we went. Now they should all remember the experience. You could even feel the spray in some spots where we stood to get a good view of this natural wonder.
Since returning home, I have already used the paperless coupons to score a few great deals on school supplies. Now I can watch the savings add up and score more savings through points earned over time. It might not be enough to cover an entire trip, but it definitely helped to cover part of our lunch out when in Niagara Falls. Next up for me is a late anniversary celebratory dinner.
