While there are an abundance of children’s Bibles, it can be a challenge to find one for Catholics. While we’ve found a few for the middle school and high school years that we like, we had not seen a children’s Bible sitting on the shelf of a bookstore. Scandinavia Publishing House released The Children’s Bible Catholic Edition this past fall and it is truly a wonderful option.
Now, this is not a ‘real’ Bible according to my discerning 12 year old. Instead, this one covers the major stories of the Bible and has them written for a younger child. So, R would call this a children’s STORY Bible.
I do like the illustrations and how they change the placement on each 2 page spread. Some go across the top as seen below, while others may frame the text on the left, right, lower section or even divide the text by being placed in the center of the page. I find the changing placement breathes a bit of life into the layout.
As this is a Catholic version, it includes the Apocrypha. Here is an example of first pages from that section:
All in all, this is an excellent choice for those wanting a picture children’s Bible which aligns with the books of the Catholic Bible. It is available in hardcover for a suggested retail price of $24.95.

Thank you for posting this! I am wondering if I’ll need to replace our children’s Catholic Bible as it has been quite well used. Sometimes it is nice to have the story format to fill the in the meanings. It looks as if the artwork is respectful, too.
