Before I even start writing about this incredible company, I feel the need for being real and disclosing something about me and clothes. I loathe clothes shopping most of the time. I am sure that spending years in the plus size department had a small contribution to that feeling along with most rack clothing being way too big in the waist to fit my hips. Months of careful nutrition and exercise is helping to cure some of those problems, but the hesitancy for clothes shopping is still there.
Dresses and tops are the two clothing items that I’ve had moderate success in the past and do not dread trying those articles on nearly as much. But, even there, I have found that most items still do not fit my frame well.
When I was given the opportunity to review one of the new Fall dresses from eShakti, I was eager to see if I would look fantastic with a stylish dress that by my (then) measurements would fit.
After a bit of hemming and hawing over which of the designs would be my top pick, I selected Vintage graphic print knit dress (retail of $99.95 without customization) with the lone customization option ($7.50 per item) to have the 3/4 length sleeves. Alaska is not known as sleeveless wearing environment during the fall and winter and I thought it wise to get the sleeves added. If I still lived in the deep south, I would have left it as shown in the image with no sleeves as that really accentuates the lovely collar.
About the Vintage Graphic Print Knit Dress:
Color: Red/black
Our jersey-knit print dress features an oversized collar anchored by two self buttons, and waist-cinching button-tabbed banding.
- Slips on over head; partial side hidden zip closure.
- Sleeveless.
- Princess seamed bodice.
- Ruched pleats skirt.
- Side seam pockets.
- Below knee length.
- Cotton/nylon/spandex, ponte knit, light stretch, heavier-weight.
- Machine wash.
From the time I submitted my requested size (a 14) to the time it arrived, I had actually lost more inches from my body. If you look at the photo to the right, you can see how it is rather loose around the waist. I knew it was definitely too big when hubby noticed the zipper along the side and I had been able to just pull it over my head with no resistance. If I wanted it to look ‘right’, I needed to pull in a few inches at the waist to get the fitted look I could tell this dress was made to have. Who knew that loosing more weight would have me feeling sad?
Thankfully, the company was great to work with on getting a new dress sent to me. Looking at their size chart, I thought a 12 (off the rack) would work. However, at their insistence I ended up sending over my current measurements so they could make a completely custom dress that should fit as intended.
Ever use the phrase ‘fit like a glove’? That is how I’d describe the way my customized dress from eShakti fits me. All my curves can be seen and the dress lays beautifully.
I love that I can wear this dress around my toddler and not worry about how he’ll ‘ruin’ it.
As it is, my chest measurement was a little bit larger than a size 12 has. So, I am so thankful for the company rep insisting on those measurements!
Aside from the ability to have the dress made to your measurements and taste (dress length and sleeve), there are many things that now have eShakti on my ‘must get more’ list. The dress is well put together from design to seams. This particular one is machine washable (a must for any mom with littles in the house) and fully lined (no seeing through the fabric or need for a slip.) The turnaround time from order to fulfillment almost boggles my mind. eShakti states that this particular dress ships within 5 business days and that transit takes up to 9 business days. I’ve had books that have taken much longer to reach me and this is an item that is made when ordered.
Now I have to find more opportunities (beyond church) to wear this gorgeous dress. With the perfect fit, I feel like a million bucks!
I highly recommend any woman in the market for new clothes give eShakti a look. Beyond dresses, they also offer tops, skirts, jackets and special event items. The designs are fabulous and the quality is far better than many items I find at the local store. And, their clothing is available in sizes 0 to 36!

They do make wonderful dresses (and I’m sure the skirts and tops are good, too.)
I think it’s so pretty. The color is wonderful! And I like the collar detail. Is it bad that I also noticed your great fireplace and log walls? Reminds me of the cabin we lived n before we bought this house.

I love the color and detail, Marie. Thanks for noticing the log walls and fireplace. This house has some warts, but we couldn’t pass up living in a log home in Alaska.
I love the dress, it is beautiful!

Kathleen,
I’m very utilitarian. However, I think we all need a few outfits that look great and make us feel like the beautiful women we are.
Love that the dress is based on your measurements. It can be hard to order online if you aren’t a typical size all over. You dress could be worn so many different ways. I’m interested to see more. Thanks for sharing.
