Finding an engaging book for elementary kids that packs in adventure without too many ‘weird’ aspects to it can be a challenge. For kids that want something fantastical without all the magic or paranormal entities in it, Children of Angels might be a good fit.

When Kathryn Dahlstrom’s husband was transferred to Los Angeles, she traded Minnesota’s black-bear country for the inner-city and taught children at a Child Evangelism Fellowship Good News Club in Watts. She also began her writing career. In addition to writing six titles in the Good News Club children’s fiction series published by Child Evangelism Fellowship Press, the author is also a screenwriter and film producer.

Our Thoughts~
P was the first to read this title and found it was definitely ‘below’ his interest level as a teen. Yes, I guess once you enter high school the shorter books start to lose their appeal.
I read the title and found it to be a nice story with some interesting ties to the Bible (I somehow never really noticed the 2 references to Nephilim before now.) This title sets the stage for future titles in a series and I can imagine that the characters can grow and become more beloved as time goes by. Personally, I love the battle between angels and demons, although knowing they are real can make it a bit scarier than reading about make-believe creatures.
Children of Angels retails for 13.99, although you might find it for a little less through online retailers.
