Back when the older boys were younger, we had minimal to no cable in the house. We could pick up the local stations on the antenna and the libraries around us had so many tapes and DVDs available that we never felt deprived. Now we less options from the libraries in our new locale and internet costs are tied with having cable. The boys do love to tune into Cartoon Network sometimes, though.
Almost Naked Animals is a show on Cartoon Network that they hadn’t checked out until we got an awesome package in the mail for review.
Inside the cute tote bag was Volume 1 of Almost Naked Animals, due for release on Sept. 26th as well as a t-shirt and very nice hardback journal.
About Almost Naked Animals
Based on the quirky designs of Noah Z. Jones (creator of Fish Hooks), Almost Naked Animals features an ensemble cast of underwear-clad animals, led by Howie, the fun-loving, hospitality challenged canine manager of the beachfront hotel, Banana Cabana.
Additional characters include, Octo, a detail-oriented, highly strung front desk clerk; Bunny, a hyperactive, hyper-enthused activities director; Narwhal, an egocentric entertainer who rules the hotel lounge; Sloth, the world’s slowest-moving bellhop; Duck, a blissfully-oblivious, all-purpose “handyanimal”; and Piggy, a highly-passionate mess cook – and a swine you don’t want to mess with!
Howie’s sister, Poodle, runs the nearby, ultra-ritzy Chateau Chattoo with an iron, manicured paw. A prissy control freak, Poodle is all about herself all day, every day and her sidekick, Batty, helps her carry out her schemes and dreams.

Thoughts from Our House~
P thinks the show is beyond silly. Given that their target audience is 6 to 11 year olds and P is now 15, I’m not surprised. R and D were not sure how they’d like it, but have decided it’s an okay show to watch. Not a favorite like other Cartoon Network Shows, though. J is just happy to watch a show with his big brothers.
As a mom, I have mixed feelings about many of the shows on that particular channel as what makes something funny can lead to some negative behaviors around the house. With this show, the characters running around in underwear was viewed as funny by the boys. And, they’ve all gone through that phase in the house without a show to plant a seed.
Almost Naked Animals:It’s My Party! DVD will have a retail price of $6.99 at Target and other major retailers, including Amazon. Along with the DVD release, there will be the September 25th launch of The Almost Naked Animals “Online Super Game” and a new online store, featuring Almost Naked Animals t-shirts, notebooks and more.

I maybe just old fashioned but I don’t like the look and stories of these new cartoons. I preferred the hanna barbera cartoons of my youth still. I’m not sure how my daughters will like these new cartoons because right now all they watch is Dora and Arthur.

I definitely would prefer Arthur hands down. ALL of my boys will still hang out with the toddler to watch that show.
