Lent is marching quickly and I’m trying to integrate some of the ideas I’ve seen elsewhere for celebrating the season.
One idea that caught my eye this year came from Holly @ Three Sided Wheel. She shared about a Lenten mantel that is so serene it just called to me.

About a week ago, Mr. O and I were having our near ritualistic ‘spin’ around Wal-Mart while D was at his den meeting. I decided to check out the small fabric selection to see what I could find that would allow me to recreate this idea in my home.
What I have so far is not as pretty as Holly’s, but I take it as a work in progress. At least I’ve now removed the lingering Christmas items from the mantel!
I’m now working on a few other ideas I’ve seen and hope to share more in the coming weeks.
Have YOU done anything to decorate for Lent this year?
This year, I am joining Trish @ A House Upon the Rock in co-hosting the 40 Days of Seeking Him meme. The linky will be up each week so you can add in posts daily, weekly, or whenever you are able. The posts can be about anything related to Lent and preparing for Easter ~ crafts, food, devotions, music or reflections are all welcomed.
I hope you will join us on this journey as we prepare our hearts to receive the wonderful gift of salvation we’ve been given through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

I love this idea! I have a dream to someday weave a runner for my icon corner in all the liturgical colors. I once attempted red/gold (for Advent) but the cloth was gross ugly and haven’t gone back to the idea since. Thank you for reminding me of my “someday” project. I love the idea of using your mantle too… they both look very pretty and I love the candles
