Christmas is almost upon us and I can’t get over how fast it snuck up on me.
My photo cards from Tiny Print arrived here safe and sound. I hope to have them all in the mail by Saturday so people will have them in hand by New Year’s Eve. I have ONE relative who’s gift card is not ordered as I can’t determine which place would be the best fit. Everyone else is pretty much done and I’m glad that the USPS will let you purchase and print labels at home. Much easier to click, print and then drop in a deposit box than stand in a long line at the post office. Bummer is that I still had to stand in line to pick up packages.

Last Friday, I made a ton of pizzelles to share at an ‘around the world’ Christmas party for one of our homeschool groups. We got there a little late, which meant we missed out on enjoying all the goodies. J and D enjoyed decorating sugar cookies.
But, we didn’t miss the excitement of one young boy deciding to pull the fire alarm to see what would happen. It didn’t take long for the fire department to arrive and clear the building. Several of us realized that some of these homeschool kids have never done fire drills or been taught about those pull bars being for emergency only. So, we got a little ‘school-time’ in at the party.
That afternoon the older boys went tubing at Hillberg on JBER. Several boys from their Boy Scout Troop were there, but everyone else was skiing or snowboarding. They still had a blast.

I was sent a few coupons to try some of the Private Selection frozen goods at Kroger/ Fred Meyer. I’m thinking it’s just enough food for a stay at home date night with hubby this weekend.
This past weekend was jam packed with events. The boys had a blast at our parish’s Christmas party. J and I had talked at length about meeting Santa and how he’d get a candy cane from him. He was super excited and could hardly wait in line. Until it was his turn, that is!
Since he wouldn’t let me step back and take a photo, I just have this one Mr. O took with a different camera. (Until I see what the one gentleman from Knights of Columbus got for a shot.)
D, on the other hand, treated the whole thing matter of fact and was one of the first in line.
More pictures from that fun time coming soon….
Last Saturday, R and P attended the first session of ‘Merit Badge University.’ Assuming they get all their homework done, they’ll each have 3 merit badges completed.
After eating lunch, we then headed out to get our Christmas tree. J fell asleep on the way there, so just Mr. O, P and R went into the woods to cut it down.
Finally, I had a few trips to Wal-Mart this week. P and D both had gift cards that they wanted to use in part to buy Christmas gifts for each other. D picked something that he just knows R will love, even though I reminded him that it was way more expensive than what his brothers are spending. He insisted and said that he wants to be nice for a chance.
He also spent time in the car praying the Rosary after discovering a “how to say the Rosary’” booklet.
The generosity and prayer have me hoping that he’s turned a corner and will have better behavior from now on. But, the small pessimist voice in me wonders how long until he tries to ‘reclaim’ his nice gift and declare it’s his.
