As breastfeeding gains more momentum in the United States, it seems like more and more people are coming up with ways to help a mother discretely nurse her child. Many of the products might resemble a specialized blanket with the ability for mom to peer down at her young charge.
Reno Rose has taken it a step further and created Priose. This is a product that not only can act as a nursing cover when needed, but also as a scarf for fashion.
Available in several colorful prints that allow a woman to show off her inner fashionista, the Pirose can be worn in a dozen different arrangements. The fabric has a light and airy feel. To nurse a baby, all you need to do is loosen any part of the Pirose that is tied off and rotate it to provide the needed coverage.
The pattern I received for my review item is Ori, one of the prints on the page for nursing moms. I loved that it was bold and pretty much gender neutral.
Here’s a model showing one way to wear it as a fashion scarf. Upon the company’s recommendation, I ordered the medium size. I could have opted for large to have more coverage while nursing, but thought it too dramatic for a fashion scarf for me.
Here I am wearing it while nursing Little J. He’s getting old enough that any cover over him seems to be an intrusion of his personal space. However, I do know that he was not overheating as the fabric was less dense than other products we’ve used.
And, here’s a photo of him playing with the Pirose as he loves the texture and way the fabric moves. I have to admit that for a young one, the texture is quite appealing and possibly quite different from most fabrics in your home.
I would definitely recommend this particular product for the new mom who wants to have some privacy while nursing, yet wants something that can be used for years to come as well. I can’t say that about the dedicated nursing cover I ordered when expecting Little J.
Pirose can be ordered from Reno Rose for $35 each. You can also find Pirose on Facebook and Twitter. They have also put a few videos up on You Tube to show the Pirose in action.
