One thing I look forward to doing after Christmas is hitting the sales. However, I usually do not visit any stores (aside from the grocery if I need something) on the 26th. It’s just too crazy for me to want to go.
I guess Alaskans love their bargains as when I started doing errands this week on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Christmas and other holiday stuff was pretty well picked over. I did grab a few great bargains, though.
At Costco, there was not a single Christmas item left..save the Candy Cane hot cocoa the boys had bugged for me to buy earlier this month. I refused to as it was $9 a container compared to the regular stuff for around $6. Well, my little eye spied the sign above what was left with a price tag of $1.97. I grabbed two of the large containers, so we are now set for hot cocoa needs for the season.
At Sam’s Club (the little one in Anchorage that gets less foot traffic), I was a little more successful. Santa now has two gifts taken care of for the future (including Melissa and Doug’s music set that had a $50 value, sold for $30 pre-Christmas and I nabbed for $15.) I’m now thinking I should have grabbed a second roll of foil wrap there at the $5 price tag.
Fred Meyer had slim pickings when I arrived yesterday. Considering it all went 75% off on Sunday, I was not surprised. Only two items came home with me. One fake poinsettia plant and a clear, acrylic ice bucket. I’m still amazed that the plain ice bucket was just $5.
Tomorrow we’ll be headed to the big Sam’s and possibly Office Max where I have some ‘bucks’ to spend from past promotions. I’m not anticipating any more great bargains, but a gal can hope. Maybe we’ll hit the home improvement stores (including Ace Hardware where I have a $5 card expiring tomorrow.) If we’re lucky, there might be some lights left.
Then I can start doing MY returns to the stores as the lines should be rather short now.
So…do any of you like to hit the after Christmas sales? If so, did you manage to grab any great deals this year??
