Today I am thankful for the TOS Homeschool Crew.
Being on the Crew has been a lot of work at times, but it has also blessed our family immensely.
We have been introduced to some great products either through our own reviewing of it or hearing about it from others reviewing it for the Crew. All About Spelling, which I wrote about some more yesterday, is one of those products that I am glad to have in our homeschool now and it was through the TOS Crew that we were introduced to it.
We have also been challenged to utilize products that have not been a great fit for our family and then write a balanced review about them. Thankfully, those reviews are few and far between.
While I had started this blog before trying out for and joining the Crew, I can say that my blogging has grown as a result of our participation on this project. I have had an outlet for my desire to write and share with others. I have also had to do it on a deadline (especially this year with all the posts going live on the same day for a given product.)
Receiving great products to use in our house is a definite perk of the Crew. However, a greater benefit comes from the friendships forged with other Crewmates. There are so many wonderful ladies (and one guy!) that I would not have known if I was not on the Crew. I wish I could meet each one in person, but I know that is unlikely to happen.
Finally, I have come to view the TOS Crew as a ministry to homeschoolers. Through our reviews, we are hopefully helping other homeschoolers find products that will work well in their homes OR avoid those that won’t. With tighter budgets all around, I know how crucial it is for me to maximize value for my dollar. Hearing that what looks great isn’t quite what I thought it might be OR learning about a product that could help solve a problem in our homeschool is so beneficial to me. That’s how I envision the TOS Crew ~ we’re spreading the word about products homeschoolers might find useful in their journey to educate their children.
