As we await the beginning of vendor shipments, everyone on the Crew has been given the opportunity to review a TOS e-book. Some of us had a hard time picking one from the two choices. So, instead, we opted to do BOTH! Below is the review for the first product:
This mini unit study kicks off with a run through geography basics (what is geography, the continents, and oceans.) After this resource section, you are provided with several worksheet options that appeal to different age groups.
Recognizing that many homeschool families have kids ranging from pre-school through high school, there are coloring pages for the younger kids and even a separate section of sheets for high school students. Although, I should say that the section for high school is more than just a separate word search. Instead, they are provided with starting points to learn geography at a higher level with the incorporation of geography with literature and history studies.
Mom’s not forgotten in the mix with 2 recipes for dishes to bring the learning into the kitchen. I’m not sure about your family, but ours loves to experience new cultures through their food. The recipes are simple enough that the kids can help whip them up (or maybe mom can just supervise the cooking.)
In case you find this product needs a little expansion to have a full unit study, the writers have listed all the geography resources available from TOS near the end of the ebook. The list is hyperlinked, so one little click is all you need to check out the product being recommended.
For our family, this product is just a starting point for future studies of the world. Thankfully, there are many options out there to use (and we own several on the resource list provided in this ebook.) But, for a homeschool family looking to start off some geography studies, this ebook can be a good fit. Just don’t plan on it meeting all your needs. (Hence the label of a mini unit study…this is just the jump off point!)
Travel the World is available in ebook format. You can use this product with all your family members, so those with several kids are getting a great deal. And, being an ebook means you only print the pages you’ll actually use when you need them!
As always, you can read what other TOS Crewmates are saying about this product on the TOS Homeschool Crew blog. Our family was provided with a copy of this ebook in order to do this review. No other compensation was received and all opinions expressed in this review are our own.
