Do you, family members, or friends go on long trips?
Have you heard the cry from a child asking “Are we there yet??”
Maybe the introduction of a travel kit will make those long trips a bit more enjoyable for all involved.
Recently released by The Old Schoolhouse, Travel Kits A Simple Way to Bless Others walks you through construction of this wonderful aide. Suggestions are abundant within the pages of this ebook. Not only are there suggestions about particular items to include, but also how to package it all up. One detail the author has you consider is the mode of transportation the recipient will be using. There’s no need to get something bulky for someone riding on a plane. However, the individual traveling by car with more space could handle a larger item.
I distinctly remember being the recipient of such a blessing when my mom took my sisters and I on a cross-country plane ride from Seattle to Providence. One of her best friends and neighbor presented each of us with a little bags labeled with the time (or place) to open them up. How exciting it was to hear the pilot announce we were flying over a particular state and know that we could open up the next small bag. Nothing inside was big or expensive. But, having something to look forward to opening helped make the trip more enjoyable.
While our family has not had any long car trips to make this summer, we do have a BIG plane trip coming up in September. You can bet that I’ll be making travel kits for the boys to help occupy their time in the air. Even if the plane we are on actually has a movie or ‘radio’ available, I know that the hours will seem to move at a slow pace if the boys lack a variety of activities to do.
I am also planning to pull together a few travel kits for Little J when he’s a bit older. The ‘big’ boys all have handheld video game systems that keep them occupied on our shorter trips into Anchorage. However, he might want a little entertainment as well.
You can purchase the Travel Kits ebook from The Old Schoolhouse Store for $12.45. While you can print out pages, I found this particular resource to be an easy enough read on the computer. Going green, keeping clutter down in my house and blessing others is a great combination for me.
