Earlier this month, P spent the week at Camp Gorsuch. Unlike last year, dad did not accompany the Troop. However, with the camp only 15 minutes up the road, Stephen was able to pop in and check on him a few times.
If anyone took pictures of the boys actually doing things, I have yet to see them. All I got was a picture of his tent at camp.
And, he asked me to take a photo of the camp t-shirt (backside only.)
Overall, he had fun. He did not finish the wood carving or lifesaving merit badges at camp. That means it’s now up to HIM to find the counselors and get the work done. He did complete pioneering, insect study and rowing done at camp.
Of all he had to tell us about camp, the one thing that had him most excited was a song (Killing the Baby Seals) that is now banned from being sung there. After a bit of searching, we found a few You Tube videos of this ‘call and repeat’ song.
Disclaimer ~ this is not being shared for people to slam the blog about how people shouldn’t kill animals. No one in our household goes about killing for fun. However, we do have hunters and may at some point share about those experiences.
There’s one sung by Scout staff a few years ago (we had problems viewing it, so I’m just linking to the site.)
But, there is one that is a bit funny to watch (you have to view the whole thing to ‘get it’…).
